Bodrum's most prestigious cultural gathering is happening right now, in full swing. The 23rd International Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival 2026 opened on Friday 17 July with a carnival atmosphere at the festival centre and runs through 6 September, tracing classical music across Gümüşlük's most beautiful corners. On the day you're reading this, the festival is live — which means you can secure a ticket and step straight into these evenings where history and music meet on the western tip of Bodrum.
When and where is the festival?
Held from 17 July to 6 September 2026 in Gümüşlük, the festival is built around three distinct venue concepts, framed this year as 'On Stone', 'On Water' and 'On Sand':
- On Stone (Taşta): the 25-century-old (roughly 2,500-year-old) Koyunbaba Ancient Quarry — the venue that carries the soul of the festival. Classical music echoing between the stone walls at sunset is its signature experience.
- On Water (Suda): the Gümüşlük shoreline — concerts right by the sea, waves within reach.
- On Sand (Kumda): the earthen house at the festival centre — more intimate, close-scale encounters.
Mind the start times: Ancient Quarry (On Stone) concerts begin at 21:00, while concerts at the other venues start at 20:30. Because the quarry concerts run late, planning dinner for around 19:00 is the most comfortable choice.
The program: 18 concerts, from classical to jazz
This year's program features 18 concerts in total, of which three are masterclass concerts. While the repertoire is predominantly classical, jazz, ethnic and contemporary music are woven in too — so it's a rich calendar not just for classical devotees but for a broad range of music lovers.
The festival's artistic director is Eren Levendoğlu, with State Artist pianist Gülsin Onay as artistic advisor. The most talked-about moment of the season is the closing concert in September: Gülsin Onay takes the stage as a trio with her son, violinist Erkin Onay, and Russian cellist Denis Shapovalov. Since the finale is in September, even if you think you've missed the festival, you still have a chance to catch this grand closing.

Tickets went on sale on Friday 4 July and are available through two main channels: Biletix (online and physical box offices) and Biletinial (online). Because the popular quarry concerts can sell out quickly, if you already know the evening you want, we recommend buying ahead.
How to get to Gümüşlük
Gümüşlük lies about 25 km west of central Bodrum, a 30–40 minute drive. The village core and harbour area are largely pedestrian; parking is at the village entrance. Traffic and parking get busy on concert evenings, so arriving early is the smart move. Without a car, the Gümüşlük dolmuş (shared minibus) runs regularly from Bodrum's main bus station — exact timings can shift by season, so note your return time in advance.
Before and after the concert: sunset, seafood, a calm evening
With its west-facing bay and the silhouette of Rabbit Island (Tavşan Adası), Gümüşlük is one of Bodrum's most famous sunset spots. To turn your festival evening into a full Gümüşlük experience, our suggestion is clear: watch the sunset on the shore before the concert, enjoy a dinner of fresh seafood, and wind down afterwards at a seaside bar.
